This course will introduce students to the practice of public history: in museums and historic houses, plaques and public monuments, photo albums and family stories, and more! We will meet with public history practitioners, visit museums and historic sites, and explore community-based history projects at UMass Boston and beyond. This course will offer new perspectives on how history is made, studied, and understood, and introduce students to a range of careers in history outside the classroom.
